Biringan: A Mythical City

If you're a Filipino and an avid reader of Spookify just like me, then you might have already encountered the story involving the mysterious city named Biringan. The city has also been featured in one of the segments of "Kapuso Mo, Jesica Sojo", a famous TV show in the Philippines. Biringan is a mythical city that was said to exist in Samar, a province situated in the Eastern part of Visayas. According to locals, Biringan is located somewhere between the towns of Pagsanghan and Gandara in Samar.

The city has been the talk of the locals for decades. Biringan was said to be a very beautiful and luxurious place inhabited by Engkantos, a Filipino term for elven creatures.

The place was described to have enormous buildings, towers, and cathedrals and is similar to New York. It might be hard to believe but there have been lots of accounts that claim the existence of the mythical place.

The page I've been following on Facebook called Spookify once shared a story about the legend of Biringan. It was a story of friends who were lead to the said city and never came back. The story began in the year 1983 when a beautiful girl named Carolina studied in one of the schools in Manila. She was said to be rich and smart, a whole package indeed. Carolina then became friends with three other ladies and soon invited them to their place which is apparently the enchanted city of Biringan as they're about to celebrate some kind of festival. She even insisted to pay for their fare just to convince them, and she indeed succeeded in bringing them to their place. However, months and years have passed, the family of those three ladies had no single trace from them. After a few years, a sibling of one of the three missing ladies has occurred in their dreams saying she was already happily married in Biringan and she's with Carolina. A few months after, another family of one of the three ladies received a letter saying the same thing, saying they're well and happy in the said place.

Moreover, there were other accounts from locals claiming there have been deliveries of furniture, cement, and many other things that are mainly addressed to Biringan. There were also stories depicting a big cargo ship containing materials and appliances addressed to Biringan and the crew were asked to deliver them at night. When they reached the mythical place, they were all surprised by the otherworldly and luxurious sight. However, when the crew woke up the next morning, they were surprised that the beautiful city disappeared and see nothing but huge trees.

It's just amazing how we can instantly get curious about things unknown to our minds. Life indeed is full of enigma. Apparently, those enigmas just made life more fun and interesting to explore.
